Belnnerhassett Island Historic State Park
The splendor of America's frontier is reflected in the tranquil beauty of timeless Belnnerhassett Island. Native American tribes lived on the island almost continuously, until white settlers began to flock into the Ohio Valley in the 1780s. The Blennerhassetts owned slaves and the Island is noted as a point on the Underground Railroad where slaves escaped across the Ohio River into freedom. In addition to house tours, visitors may choose a narrated horse-drawn wagon ride, a crafts village where local artisans demonstrate and display their ware, bicycle rentals, picnic facilities, and hiking opportunities Call 304-420-4800 for more information.

Blennerhassett Museum
Located in downtown Parkersburg, the Museum is a perfect spot to begin your Island experience. The Museum features a video telling the story of Harman and Margaret Blennerhasset, offers three floors of intriguing archeological and historical exhibits, as well as a unique gift shop. Campus Martius Museum
The Ohio Historical Society's interpretive center for the history of settlement and migration in Ohio, spanning the period from 1780 - 1970. Childrens Toy & Doll Museum
Located in historic Harmar next to Harmar Station Train Museum at 206 Gilman Street. The Museum provides a glimpse into the past of what entertained and educated children in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Unique dollhouses, stores, and offices furnished to their respective periods. Antique metal banks that were both entertaining and taught thriftiness. A reproduction carousel horse that represents a gentler time of county fairs, cotton candy, lemon fizzes and ice cream on summer nights. Open noon - 4pm Saturday & Sunday. Farmers Castle Museum
The Farmers' Castle Museum is home to the Belpre Historical Society. The original Farmer's Castle Fort housed many of Belpre's original settlers from 1791 - 1794 during the Indian Wars. The Museum is open on Saturday 1 - 4pm during the summer months; other times by appointment. On display is a pre-1900 pump Organ, a model of the Ferry Boat "Nina Paden" that ran between Belpre and Parkersburg, WV before the bridge was built, a model of the Mill Branch Covered Bridge, a Grandfather clock ca-1815, old Farming tools. Fearing House
Provides a view of life in Marietta during the 19th century. Built in 1847 for Henry Fearing, the house is an example of Federal style architecture. The Italianate influence is evident on the exterior of the 1870 addition. Furnished in a range on nineteenth century styles, the home represents the lifestyles of Marietta's middle-class during the Victorian era. As one of the city's prominent citizens, Henry Fearing (1798-1894) donated the land for the Woman's Home and served as an advocate for the Temperance Movement. As a successful businessman, he developed property and owned an interest in a steamboat. Call 740-343-9437 for more information.

Marietta Castle
With it's octagonal tower, trifoil attic window, and stone capped spires, the Castle is one of the best executed examples of Gothic Revival style architecture in Ohio. Interior architectural details include a scagliola fireplace mantle and floor to ceiling shutters on the parlor's bay window.
